PREMIER Design + Build Group Breaks Ground on Cold Storage Facility in Georgia

Updated: May 19, 2023

May 23, 2019 (Itasca, Ill.) – PREMIER Design + Build Group (“PREMIER”) representatives were on site in Savannah, GA yesterday afternoon to celebrate the groundbreaking for a new 285,527-square foot cold storage facility for Frozen Assets Cold Storage. When complete, this insulated metal panel building will feature 50’ clear height warehouse storage and a 19,518-square foot blast freezer. This is the first project in the state of Georgia for PREMIER, which was selected by Bridge Development Partners to manage this design + build project.

In addition to the massive blast freezer, this build to suit facility will include two freezer rooms, a convertible room and a boxing room. An ammonia refrigeration system will allow the two freezer rooms to maintain -10ºF temperatures while keeping the convertible room between +38ºF and -10ºF.

The building’s design includes 39 exterior truck doors, 54 trailer positions and one drive-in door. The facility will be outfitted with a Tyco Quell™ Fire Sprinkler System. The 20-acre site, located at 2375 Tremont Road, will include 68 parking stalls. The target delivery date for the building is Spring 2020.

"Frozen Assets Cold Storage couldn’t be more excited about expanding its footprint into Georgia and our ongoing plan for expansion to additional markets, says Mike Street, chief executive officer for Frozen Assets Cold Storage. "Working with the Georgia Port Authority and the Savannah Economic Development Authority has been nothing short of exceptional and instrumental in our decision-making process to build in the Southeastern market.”

Project manager Samantha Skopek will oversee the design and construction for PREMIER, along with project superintendent Johnathan Nelsen. Other members of PREMIER’s team on this project include Michael Long, executive vice president, Midwest market leader, and Joe Ahrens, project executive.

Harris Architects, Inc. is providing architectural services. Swift Structural Design, LLC is providing structural engineering services, and Thomas & Hutton is providing civil engineering and landscape architecture services for the project.

PREMIER’s president Alan Zocher extended his thanks to Bridge Development Partners for inviting his company to create a game plan for the Frozen Assets Cold Storage project. “We have a great team, all of us coming together from different locations for a great opportunity,” said Zocher.

Mark Christensen, principal at Bridge Development Partners, expressed his gratitude during the groundbreaking ceremony. “I’d like to thank everyone who has been involved in getting us to where we are,” said Christensen. “We brought in PREMIER and that is one of the best things that has happened to this project. They took the bull by the horns, and the team of Mark Melone and Samantha Skopek really helped fine-tune and scope out the project.”

Bridge Development Partners and Bentall Kennedy, on behalf of an institutional client, purchased the 20-acre site in November 2018. Steve Livaditis with CBRE represented Frozen Assets Cold Storage in the transaction.
