Laying the Foundation

The summer before my senior year at Butler University, I had the incredible opportunity to intern with the Marketing Department at PREMIER. From the very beginning, I was immersed in both marketing strategy and construction operations, gaining hands-on experience that went far beyond the classroom. I developed valuable skills in Adobe Creative Suite, photography, and videography, and took on key responsibilities such as creating content for our social media channels and supporting internal communications.

Throughout the summer, I made several visits to job sites, which were especially impactful—they gave me a deeper understanding of the construction process and allowed me to speak about our projects with more clarity and confidence.

When I went back to school that fall, PREMIER allowed me to continue working part-time remotely, giving me the chance to stay connected to real-world projects while completing my degree.

How PREMIER is Shaping My Career

After graduation, I joined PREMIER full-time as Marketing Coordinator, and things took off quickly. I now manage our social media and public relations efforts, conduct market research and analysis, and plan major events.

But what’s been even more rewarding is the industry knowledge I’ve gained outside of traditional marketing. I’ve learned about construction across different sectors, the preconstruction process, and how each component contributes to the bigger picture. That insight has strengthened my understanding of the full construction lifecycle—and given me a solid foundation that I draw from every day.

A Note to Future Interns

If you’re considering an internship at PREMIER, here’s my advice: take initiative. Don’t wait for someone to tell you what to do—look for ways to contribute. Come up with ideas, ask questions, and always ask for feedback. Challenges are opportunities in disguise, and how you handle them says a lot.

Most importantly, communicate clearly and professionally. It’s key to good teamwork and personal growth—and it’ll serve you well in any role, now or in the future.

A Standout Experience

What stands out most to me about working at PREMIER is the freedom to grow. I’ve been trusted with meaningful work that makes a real impact, and I’ve had the chance to shape my own path.

If my journey shows anything, it’s that an internship at PREMIER is more than just a summer job—it’s a starting point for a career full of learning, growth, and opportunity, supported by a team that truly wants to see you succeed.
