Women In Construction Week Spotlight: Sabrina Krasner

What drew you to the construction industry?

I was attracted to the construction industry from a very young age. Growing up in Northern Jersey all sorts of construction was taking place and it fascinated me to see tangible success.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is having strong relationships with clients/owners, who rely on us to get the building built. Having such strong relationships enables us to continue working long-term with these people/companies and in turn allows for the relationship and success to grow/prosper.

How is being a woman in construction an advantage?

Being a woman in construction means working just as hard as anyone else, but it also comes with a strong sense of camaraderie and support. One of the great things about this industry is that women actively uplift and support each other, especially when it comes to opportunities like hiring and career growth.

What have you achieved thus far in your career that you are most proud of?

Thus far in my career, I am most importantly proud of all of the relationships I have developed and built on. The construction industry is based on who you know and by having close relationships, success follows.

Do you have a mentor that has helped you on this path?

Different stages of my life brought in different mentors. Currently in my career, my biggest mentor is my Project Manager, John Poje. He has spent countless early mornings, before the sun rises, teaching me how to descope drawings and most importantly showing me the best way to get projects done on time and under budget. I always like to pick his brain to understand the best course of action when communicating with owners, subs, etc.
